About Your Library
The Dubuque County Library District, founded in 1950, provides library services to residents of the unincorporated areas of Dubuque County, as well as to residents of our branch communities of Asbury, Epworth, Farley, Holy Cross, and Peosta. Residents of Balltown, Centralia, Luxemburg, and Rickardsville are eligible for services via the Library Services Agency agreement. Holders of a Dubuque County Library District card may use any of our five branches. Through a state-sponsored cooperative arrangement known as Open Access, persons with a Dubuque County Library District card may also use the Carnegie-Stout Public Library in Dubuque, the Cascade Public Library, and Dyersville’s James Kennedy Public Library. Likewise, library card holders from those communities may use any Dubuque County Library District branch. A few services, such as downloading e-books and interlibrary loan, are not available to these non-resident users. Dubuque County Library service includes a collection of books, DVDs, magazines, newspapers, and books on CD. From our website you can search several research databases; EbscoHost, NoveList, Mango Languages, America’s Newspapers, and Ancestry for Libraries, among others. The Library subscribes to Bridges, a shared collection of downloadable e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, and streaming video. Bridges is a state-wide consortium that allows users to download selections to most mobile devices, e-readers, and computers. All of our branches have public computers with Internet access, Microsoft Office and more. Wi-Fi is also available. Other general services include faxing, copying, as well as black and white and color printing. Notary service is available at the Asbury Branch by appointment.
