Monthly Spotlight: More Books!

National Book Week -20th

It's Book Week and we got some challenges for you!

Who doesn't love books? They look pretty, often smell nice, and they let you escape from reality for a while. So why not celebrate this week by starting your very own book-based challenge? Take a look at some of the challenges we have found along with some books to start you out with based on them. And don't forget, this challenge is meant to be fun so go and enjoy reading! And don't forget to look around reading websites like Goodreads to see blogs/forums from previous years' challenges and contests you could possibly win.

Speed Reader? Complete a Series Challenge!

Step 1: Choose a series; try to do one that is at least a trilogy if not more.

Step 2: Choose a timeline; what do you think a good timeline for you is? 2 weeks? 3 months? You decide.

Step 3: Start reading! 

Wanna travel? Explorer Challenge!

Step 1:  How long of a challenge you want?

Step 2: Choose your locations. Are they in the US? Europe-focused? Go around the world?

Step 3: Start reading! 

History Buff? Decades Challenge!

Step 1: Set a time limit.

Step 2: What decade are you starting in? 1920's? 1800's? 

Step 3: Read your way through time!

Into Fairytales? Retelling Challenge.

Enriching Mind? Poetry Challenge.

Step 1: Suprise! This challenge is a 31-day challenge! Figure out when you'd like to start this.

Step 2: Read 31 poetry books or chapbooks* in 31 days. You may want to consider mixing it up with poetry type.

Step 3: Go forth and read!

Out with the Old, In with the New? Genre Challenge.

Step 1: You'll have 3 months to do this challenge. You may want to plan accordingly.

Step 2: Based on the genres listed below, pick a book that fits into each one. NO REPEATED GENRES!

Step 3: On your marks, set, GO! 

More of a Listener? Audiobook Challenge.

Step 1: This is a monthly challenge! Read(listen to?) as many books as you desire for the first month, then try to beat that goal by the next month!

Step 2: Each month will have a prompt, choose one to follow but try not to repeat it (get outside your comfort zone!).

Step 3: Listen/Read to your heart's content!

Need to Stop Buying Books? Library Challenge.

Step 1: This can be a double challenge! Do this one with one of the challenges you've seen before it, but instead of buying all the books, borrow from the library!

Step 2: Pick whichever challenge speaks to you and look through the recommendations for each prompt (Should be linked) 

Step 3: Start both challenges by checking out a book!
